What is a TSCPROJ file?
A TSCPROJ file is a project created by TechSmith Camtasia, a screen recording and video editing application. It contains the locations of all the recordings (.CMREC, .CAMREC, or .TREC files) and media files included in the project. TSCPROJ files also store all of the edits and effects applied to the project.
Camtasia can create various types of videos, including tutorials, video game recordings, training videos, and webinar recordings. When saving a video with the Windows version of Camtasia, the application creates a TSCPROJ project file to store the contents.
TSCPROJ file is a working project file, which means you can edit, save it, close it, then re-open it for further editing. To create a TSCPROJ file with the Windows version of Camtasia, follow these steps:
- Select File → New Project or New Project From Template... if you have not yet started a project
- Select File → Save or Save As...
- Name the project, choose the save location, then click Save
If you are using the macOS version of Camtasia, you can also create TSCPROJ files by selecting File → Export → Project for Windows.... This workflow creates a .ZIP file, which contains a TSCPROJ file.
NOTE: The TSCPROJ file was introduced with version 9 of TechSmith Camtasia. It replaced the .CAMPROJ file type used by the Windows versions of Camtasia.
How do I open a TSCPROJ file?
You can open a TSCPROJ file in Camtasia (Windows and macOS) by selecting File → Open Project.
Since TSCPROJ files store plain text, you can also open them with a plain text editor. However, opening a TSCPROJ file with a text editor will not display the project contents the same way as Camtasia. Also, if you modify the TSCPROJ file, you may cause the project file to be corrupt or alter the project.
