What is a PAT file?
System file used by DiskStation Manager (DSM), the operating system used for Synology NAS devices; contains the files required to install or update the low-level operating system software that runs the device; can be used from the DSM Control Panel by choosing "DSM Update" and then the "Manual Update" option.
PAT files are also used by Synology Assistant, a program used for installing firmware onto DSM devices. During the DSM device setup process, the Synology Assistant requests the PAT installation file for the device. You can retrieve the PAT file from your Synology installation CD or from the Synology download center.

CAD file used by AutoCAD, a professional CAD drawing application; stores a hatch pattern which can be used to texturize or fill an area; helps give a material appearance (e.g., brick, aluminum, glass, or plastic) to drawn objects.
Hatch patterns are vector-based and are written in a plain text format. Consult the AutoCAD documentation to learn the syntax used for writing hatch patterns.

Corel CONNECT, a graphics content browsing application included with CorelDRAW Graphics Suite, provides a graphics content package that includes several vector patterns, which can be included in images or documents.

3D model file typically created by CAD programs; contains patches, which store the three-dimensional geometry as rectangular meshes; differs from other formats that use single vertices to store 3D shapes.
PAT files use a format similar to .3DA files.
File Type 6Ketron Sound Pattern File

Ketron sound pattern format used to play different styles for the Ketron keyboards including the SD1, SD3, SD5, and Audya models; contains style sounds, levels, and effects; can be used for a wide variety of genres such as Rock, Jazz, Pop, R&B, Latin, Dance, and Gospel.
On SD models, the PAT files are located in the STYLE folder within the MASTER FOLDER, which is accessed when you push the MASTER FOLDER button on the keyboard. Depending on the keyboard version you are using you can load the PAT file via a floppy disk or USB drive. You can create a PAT file with the "Pattern Edit" function on SD models. On Aduya models, the PAT file is commonly accompanied by a .BIN file which contains the parameters for the style contained in the PAT file.
NOTE: You can open PAT files with Ketron software for the appropriate model of your keyboard.
