The IPF format originated from the Generalized Markup Language developed by IBM. May be compiled into a viewable HLP file using the IPF Compiler (IPFC).

PEAK PCAN-Explorer is used to communicate with the CAN and CAN FD protocols, which allow microcontrollers and devices on automobile busses to communicate with each other. IPF files are created by PCAN-Explorer to store information about the visual layout of panels in a PCAN-Explorer project.
