An SND file is a sound file used by M.U.G.E.N (or just Mugen), a freeware 2D fighting game engine. It contains WAVE audio data, and is generated from multiple .WAV files. SND files are used for sounds played during various parts of the game, which includes during gameplay and "motif" title screens.

You will most likely only encounter an SND file if you create games with the M.U.G.E.N engine. Audio data stored in SND files include action sound effects, such as punches or kicks, character voice clips, and button clicks.

SND files that store sounds for characters are located in the chars/​ directory. SND files that store system sounds for title screens are located in the data/​ directory.
