CyberLink Media Suite

Software Overview

CyberLink Media Suite was an all-in-one multimedia software collection available for Windows. It included almost every kind of application a user might need to play, create, burn, convert, and share digital media. However, CyberLink no longer offers the Media Suite.

The Media Suite's Ultimate edition included the following applications:

• PowerDVD - A movie, audio, and image player
• PowerDirector - A professional-grade video editor
• PhotoDirector - A professional-grade photo editor
• Power2Go - An all-in-one disc burning tool
• MediaEspresso - A media file converter
• MediaShow - A photo organizer
• PowerProducer - A DVD and Blu-ray disc authoring tool
• WaveEditor - An audio recorder and editor
• PowerBackup - A file, folder, and data backup tool
• LabelPrint - A CD/DVD label editor and printer
• Screen Recorder - A screen capture and casting application
• YouCam - A webcam enhancement and security tool
• U Meeting - A video conferencing application
• U Webinar - A webinar presentation platform
• PerfectCam - A virtual makeup application for use with video conferencing apps

The suite's Ultra edition, which costs slightly less, did not include Screen Recorder, YouCam, and PerfectCam. However, both editions included access to CyberLink Cloud Storage, which can be used to store your media as well as back up projects created using CyberLink Media Suite.

While the suite included almost every tool you'd need to manipulate your media files, many of CyberLink's applications did not stack up well against other companies' professional-grade tools. For example, Adobe Photoshop and Premiere outclass PhotoDirector and PowerDirector. Also, the CyberLink Media Suite did not include an audio editing tool that could match professional DAWs, such as Avid Pro Tools, Adobe Audition, or Sternberg Cubase.

However, the CyberLink Media Suite was cheaper than many of the above-named applications and, notably, could be purchased as a standalone product rather than a subscription service. Those who are looking to gain access to a media player, video editor, photo editor, data backup tool, video conferencing application, and more all at once will be satisfied with this software collection.

Summary

CyberLink Media Suite was a jack-of-all-trades and master of none. Those looking for the best media playing, editing, and sharing software should look elsewhere. However, for those looking for an affordable, all-in-one multimedia software package, CyberLink Media Suite was a great solution.
