A PDS file may also be a project created by Broderbund The Print Shop, a program used to create the layout of personal and business prints. It contains a project for a blank page or sign layout that may include text, headlines, shapes, lines, images, tables, and other design features.

PDS files have been used by various versions of The Print Shop to save projects throughout the years. However, the PDS file format was not used after The Print Shop 10. To open a PDS file in The Print Shop 10 or later, select File → Open, choose "All Files (*.*)" from the file type dropdown menu, navigate to the location of the PDS file, and click Open. You may need to reformat some of the elements in the print layout in the PDS file.
NOTE: PDS files created by The Print Shop Ensemble I, II, or III cannot be opened by any other versions of The Print Shop. Also, PDS files created by The Print Shop 5 and 6 can be opened by any later versions of The Print Shop.
