A PBJ file may also be a backup job file created by Perfect Backup, a file backup program for Windows. It contains settings that Perfect Backup uses to complete a backup process. When a Perfect Backup user first runs a new backup job, Perfect Backup saves that job's settings in a PBJ file.

Using Perfect Backup, users can perform scheduled incremental, differential, and full backups of their Windows folders and files. To perform backups, users create a backup job, which specifies that backup process's settings. These settings include:

  • The folders and files the backup will include
  • The location at which the backup will be saved
  • The backup's type (incremental, differential, or full)
  • Whether the backup will be Zip-compressed
  • The backup's schedule

The first time a user runs a backup job, Perfect Backup creates a PBJ file that contains that job's settings (in the same directory as the backup). If, for some reason, a user needs to restore a backup job, they can do so by loading that job's PBK file in Perfect Backup.

NOTE: In the past, Perfect Backup saved PBJ files as PBK (.pbk) files.

How to open a PBJ file

You can open a PBJ file with Perfect Backup (Windows), to restore and run the backup job it describes. To do so:

  1. Select File → Open from Perfect Backup's menu bar.
  2. Browse to and select your PBJ file.
  3. Click Continue....

The backup job your PBJ file describes will then appear in Perfect Backup.
