PRG files allow programs to be run within the Visual FoxPro environment. However, they are not Windows executable files. Therefore, you must first compile the program into a Windows executable in order to run it outside of Visual FoxPro.

REMARQUE: FoxPro, the predecessor to Visual FoxPro, is an xBase variant, so FoxPro PRG files may be similar to those found in other xBase programming environments, such as Clipper, dBFast, and older versions of dBASE.

A PRG (Commander X16 Program) file is a program that can be run on the Commander X16 emulator. Commander X16 is an 8-bit computer being created by David Murray, a.k.a. The 8-Bit Guy. To prepare for his computer's release, Murray released a Commander X16 emulator that is available on the web, as well as on Windows, Mac, and Linux.

You can open a PRG (Commander X16 Program) file in the Commander X16 emulator (cross-platform). To run a PRG program from a terminal window:

1. Make sure your Commander X16 emulator and your PRG file are stored in the same directory.
2. Open a terminal window and navigate to the directory that contains your emulator and PRG file.
3. Enter x16emu -prg YourFileName.prg -run

The program your PRG file contains will then open in the Commander X16 emulator.

You can also load and run a PRG file from within the Commander X16 emulator, using the LOAD and RUN commands.
