What is an STYLE file?
Sketch style that can be applied to a drawing created with Google SketchUp, a 3D modeling program; examples include wavy pencil lines, graphite stick marks, or quick pen strokes; often used to make a CAD model look hand-drawn.
Style files are created with Google's Style Builder, which is included with SketchUp Pro 6 and 7. They may be applied to multiple drawings and can be shared between SketchUp users.
NOTE: SketchUp, previously owned by Google, is now owned by Trimble.

What is an STYLE file?
Style file created with ArcGIS mapping software; contains symbols and map elements, including labels, arrows, legend items, borders, backgrounds, colors, and other symbols.
The ESRI.style file contains a default set of map elements, symbols, and symbol properties. It can be customized or replaced using ESRI's Style Manager.
