What is an STYLE file?
A STYLE file contains a style a user can apply to a drawing created with Trimble SketchUp, a 3D modeling program. Style examples include wavy pencil lines, graphite stick marks, and quick pen strokes. STYLE files come with the SketchUp installation, but users may also create custom styles with the Style Builder utility and share them with others.
More Information
@Last Software initially developed SketchUp and released it in 2000. Then, Google acquired @Last Software in 2006 and developed SketchUp until 2012, when Trimble purchased the software.
Before SketchUp Pro (version 6), the Style Builder was separate from SketchUp. However, since version 6, the Style Builder is included with SketchUp Pro.
Styles in SketchUp
You can access styles in the Styles panel in the Default Tray. After selecting the style, you can apply it to your drawings to give them a specific appearance (like a hand-drawn aesthetic) and make them look uniform.
To share a style with another SketchUp user:
- Select Windows → Styles.
- Choose In Model in the Styles Collections dropdown list.
- Right-click the style you would like to share and select Save As.
How to open an STYLE file
You can open a STYLE file with Trimble SketchUp in Windows and macOS. For example to open a STYLE file a user shared with you:
- Select Windows → Styles.
- Click the Details arrow in the Select tab and choose Open an Existing Collection.
- Click Open.
