What is an SKM file?

An SKM file is a video saved in a slightly-modified version of the .3GP (or 3GPP) file format. It contains footage recorded by an SK Telecom mobile phone. SKM files are used to play and transfer videos between SK Telecom 3G mobile phones.

More Information

The 3GPP file format is a multimedia container format based on the ISO media file format. It stores video streams as H.263 or H.264. and audio streams as AMR-WB, AMR-WB+, AMR-NB, HE-AAC v1, AAC-LC, or Enhanced aacPlus. The 3GPP file format is used mostly to save videos recorded on 3G mobile phones. SK Telecom developed a slightly-modified version of the 3GPP file format for use with their 3G phones.

How do I open an SKM file?

While SKM files are quite rare, you can likely play them using Microsoft Windows Media Player (Windows), Apple QuickTime Player (Mac), Gretech GOM Player (Windows), or VLC media player (cross-platform). Those programs can play 3GP and .K3G files, so they should be able to play SKM files.
