Was ist eine BS-Datei?

A BS file is a bitmap image created by Printfox, a word processing program available for the Commodore 64. It contains a 320 x 200 pixel image. BS files were also used by Printfox's successor, Pagefox.

Weitere Informationen

In 1986, German software publisher Scanntronik released the Printfox word processor for the Commodore 64. Printfox allowed users to combine text and images to be printed upon an A4 sheet of paper. Most often, users who wanted to add images to their document created them using Printfox's graphics editor, which saved images as BS files.

In 1987, Scanntronik released an updated version of Printfox, called Pagefox. While Pagefox saved images as PG files, it also allowed users to load and use BS files.

HINWEIS: Printfox Bitmap Images can also be saved as GB files, which contain a 640 x 400 pixel image.

So öffnen Sie eine BS-Datei

Despite BS files' age and relative obscurity, you can open them with XnConvert (cross-platform) and XnViewMP (cross-platform). You can also use these programs to convert BS files to a more common image format.

Bussin Source Code File

A BS file is a source code file written in Bussin, an esoteric programming language developed by face-hh. It contains program instructions written with Internet slang-inspired keywords and syntax. BS files are saved as plain text and may define variables, functions, conditions, loops, calculations, and other instructions used to control how a Bussin program runs.

Bussin is implemented in TypeScript and is designed mainly as an experimental and entertainment-focused programming language for hobbyists, students, programming enthusiasts, and developers interested in unusual language design to build small programs. Its syntax replaces conventional programming terms with informal words and phrases, giving programs a distinctive appearance while still supporting common programming concepts.

The face-hh Bussin software reads and executes the instructions stored in BS files. Users can run a specific file through the project's command-line environment with the npm run bussin command, or start the interactive Bussin prompt by running npm run bussin without a filename.

HINWEIS: The related Bussin X language uses .BSX files and supports additional language features, although Bussin X can also interpret much of the original BS syntax.

So öffnen Sie eine BS-Datei

You can open a BS file with any text or source code editor, such as Microsoft Visual Studio Code or Sublime Text. To run the program, obtain the Bussin project from face-hh’s GitHub repository, install its required Node.js dependencies, and pass the BS file to the Bussin command-line program. Visual Studio Code users can also install the Bussin extension for syntax highlighting.

Baldur's Gate Player Character Script

A BS file is a script that can be applied to a player-controlled character in BioWare's Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale series of games. It contains a list of in-game triggers and responses used to automate a character's actions. BS files are used to streamline in-game combat or to cheat the game.

BioWare's Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale series of games are role-playing games set within Dungeons & Dragons' Forgotten Realms. Uniquely, these games were created using a game development platform called the Infinity Engine, which simulates pen-and-paper Dungeons and Dragons rules.

Infinity Engine games allowed players to create scripts that controlled their party members' actions. Most times, players created scripts in-game using the games' script editors. These scripts were then saved as BS files.

However, some Infinity Engine modders took it upon themselves to create BS scripts that bent or broke the Infinity Engine's typical ruleset. These mod-created scripts allowed players to quickly strengthen their characters and beat games more easily.

HINWEIS: Some Infinity Engine scripts control a game's non-player characters. These scripts are saved with the .bcs extension.

So öffnen Sie eine BS-Datei

Because BS files are plain text, you can open them with any text editor, including:

To use a BS file as a script in an Infinity Engine game, place the file in your game's {GAMENAME}/Scripts folder. You will then be able to select the script in-game.

Broadcast Satellaview File

Entwickler Nintendo
Beliebtheit
2.0  |  1 Stimme

A BS file is a game data file created for the Satellaview, a discontinued satellite-based add-on for the Super Famicom (Super Nintendo) released in Japan in the mid-1990s. It contains a raw binary dump of data originally broadcast over satellite, including SNES-compatible program code and game assets such as graphics, maps, and scripts. BS files also store Satellaview-specific headers and control data that tell the system how the content should load and interact with the BS-X base software (the core system software the Satellaview service used to manage satellite downloads).

Weitere Informationen

The Satellaview service allowed users to download games, magazines, and other interactive content on a schedule, rather than purchasing physical cartridges. As a result, many BS files represent episodic or time-limited broadcasts instead of complete standalone games. Because of this structure, BS files are not standard SNES ROMs and cannot be played in basic SNES emulators without Satellaview support.

Some broadcasts also featured audio-linked elements or variations that differed from cartridge releases. Today, BS files are primarily used for preservation and emulation, allowing historians, collectors, and retro-gaming enthusiasts to study and experience Satellaview-exclusive content that is no longer available.

So öffnen Sie eine BS-Datei

You can open BS files with Super Nintendo emulators that support Satellaview. For example, bsnes-plus, Snes9x, and Mesen-S Project can open BS files.
