An RCD file is an audio recording created by a mobile phone that uses the KaiOS operating system. It contains audio recorded using the phone's Recorder app. RCD files are stored in a phone's Audio folder.

KaiOS is an Android-based operating system used by several models of feature phones, which are old-style, button-based cell phones that allow users to install and access simple applications. Notably, the Nokia 8110 and Alcatel MyFlip A405DL use the KaiOS operating system.

By default, KaiOS includes a Recorder app that feature phone users can use to record audio memos. The app saves these audio files as RCD files, which are formatted similarly to .OGG audio files. RCD files are named using the time at which they were saved, with a filename that follows the format record_YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS.rcd.

Most often, you'll want to open and play RCD files using the Recorder app on your KaiOS mobile phone. However, if you want to play an RCD file on your computer, you can do so by transferring the file to your computer and opening it in VLC media player (cross-platform).

An RCD file is used by Arcade, a program created for modeling physical structures in real-time using computer game computational methods. RCD files are used to create dynamic physical simulations in educational environments for teaching exercises, homework, and labs.
