Zipeg is a free an open source program that is used to extract compressed file Archives. Unlike many other decompression utilities, Zipeg can't be used to compress archives. Zipeg has been discontinued
Zipeg is a useful tool for accessing the contents of file archives. It supports many different archiving formats, such as .ZIP, .RAR , .7Z, and .TAR. It has the ability to let you view the contents of an archive and select the files you wish to extract. Zipeg also allows you to decrypt password-protected ZIP and RAR files.
If you are looking for a useful tool for quickly examining archive files and extracting the parts that you need, Zipeg is a great choice. If you need to create archives, Zipeg does not have that capability.
