Software Overview
gedit is an open source text editor for the GNOME desktop environment. GNOME runs on the Linux operating system and is developed by volunteers and paid contributors that make up the GNOME Project.
gedit supports several file types including the .TXT, .PY, .LST, and .INFO files. The editor provides configurable syntax highlighting for a variety of languages such as C++, Java, XML, HTML, Python, and Perl. gedit also comes with search and replace, text wrapping, bracket matching, current line highlighting, and configurable font and color functionality. If you need to add any new functionality, the editor supports plugins, as well.
