Software Overview

ERDAS IMAGINE is a geospatial data authoring system. It combines remote sensing, geographic information system (GIS) capabilities, and geospatial image processing and analysis. The software is included with the PRODUCER SUITE of the Power Portfolio and is available in Essentials, Advantage, and Professional editions.

The application provides tools for spatial modeling, map production, mosaicking, parallel batch processing, and change detection. It is mainly used to create 2D and 3D images, 3D movies, and cartographic-quality map compositions from geospatial data. ERDAS IMAGINE supports a large variety of data formats, such as ESRI 2D & 3D Shapefiles, TIFF, MrSID (Generation 3 - Geo Express), ESRI GRID, and GRID Stack.

The software features a viewer that displays, combines, analyzes, and presents geographic data. ERDAS IMAGINE also includes the ability to add on to its capabilities, such as format compatibility, production toolsets, automatic terrain generation, and radar processing.
