Wat is een SVZ-bestand?
An SVZ file is an audio tone used by a Roland FANTOM synthesizer. It contains a sound that can be imported into and played on the synthesizer. Users often download SVZ files from the Internet, place them on a USB drive, and use the drive to import them into their synthesizer.

Roland FANTOM is a series of digital audio workstations (DAWs) that include an electronic keyboard and a mixing console. Composers, musicians, and audio engineers use FANTOM series workstations to create and edit music.
FANTOM 6 and later workstations use individual audio tones saved as SVZ files. Users can download SVZ files from Roland's online tone library. FANTOM series workstations also use sound pack files, which contain many tones. These files are saved as .SDZ files.
OPMERKING: In 2020, Roland released an update for JUPITER-X, RD-88, MC-101, and MC-707 devices that allows those devices to also use SVZ files.
Een SVZ-bestand openen
You can open an SVZ file by importing it into a Roland FANTOM workstation (or other compatible Roland device). To do so:
- Place the file on a USB drive and insert the drive into your FANTOM's USB MEMORY port.
- Press your FANTOM's MENU button.
- From the MENU screen, select UTILITY → IMPORT → IMPORT TONE.
- Navigate to and select your SVZ file. Select NEXT and follow the prompts to finish importing your SVZ file.
You can then select and play the tone your SVZ file contains.
If you want to open an SVZ file on a computer, you must first use Roland SVZ Sample Converter to convert the file to the .MP3 format.
