A WKU file is a spreadsheet created by early versions of Lotus 1-2-3, one of the first widely used spreadsheet programs for DOS-based systems and early versions of Microsoft Windows. It stores spreadsheet data in a structured format, including rows, columns, numbers, text, and formulas.

As Lotus Software (later acquired by IBM) continued to develop Lotus 1-2-3, it released newer file formats, such as .WK1, .WK3 and .WK4, which replaced WKU, offering more features and improved compatibility.
