A PDX file is a directory that contains the compiled version of a Playdate video game. It contains compiled Lua source code and the game's assets. Those assets might include images, sounds, and other game data files.

Playdate is a handheld video game console created by Panic. Game developers can use the Playdate Software Development Kit (SDK) to create games for Playdate. These game development projects typically consist of .LUA source code and game assets saved in various image and audio formats, such as .PNG, .WAV, and .MP3 files.
After a developer has finished developing their Playdate game, they can use the Playdate Compiler (pdc) to compile their game into an executable package. These packages are saved as PDX files. In Windows and Linux, PDX files appear as normal directories, which you can open and examine as you would any other directory. In macOS, PDX files appear as macOS packages.
