A DTM file is an audio tracking module saved in the Digital Tracker Module (DTM) format, a proprietary format used by the Digital Tracker audio application. It contains note patterns and sound samples representing different instruments played back according to the notes.

Frontier Software developed Digital Tracker and released it in 1994 for the Atari Falcon computer. Its DTM format is based on the .MOD Amiga Module format that Karsten Obarski developed and released with the Ultimate Soundtracker software for the Commodore Amiga system in 1987.
