File used by Orbiter, a free space flight simulation program; defines a vector map, which is used for displaying space object shapes (e.g., planets); saved in a plain text format and is located in the \Config\...\Data\ directory of the Orbiter installation.

Vector shape used by CX-Designer, a program used for designing the screen interface for OMRON's Programmable Terminals (PTs); saves a shape that can act as a graphic on the screen.
You can create new shapes through CX-Designer's Library window. Right click any drawn shape or imported image and choose "Register Shape File" to include it as a VEC file in the Library.
NOTE: OMRON PTs are used for controlling machines through a touch screen interface.

A VEC file is a game ROM file used by Vectrex emulators, which can play Vectrex games as if they were run on the original system. It contains a copy of the game data dumped from the original game cartridge.
VEC files are used by a variety of emulators to play older Vectrex games on computers. Some Vectrex emulators that can open VEC files include MESS, Vecx, and OpenEmu.
Vectrex is a video game console originally released in 1982 by General Consumer Electronics and then by Milton Bradley Company from 1983 to 1984. Vectrex game titles include Berzerk, Armor Attack, Scramble, Space Wars, Star Castle, Rip-Off, Web Wars, and Starhawk.

GIS file created in IDRISI's vector (VEC) format; used for storing shapes and drawing them as maps or map features; supports points, lines, and polygons and may be stored in an ASCII text format or a binary format.
VEC files should also have an accompanying .DVC file that is required to view the data.
