What is a THK file?
A THK file is a brainstorming document created by Symthink, a now-discontinued online idea organization app. It contains a list of questions, statements, and sources related to a central idea. THK files store JSON-formatted data.
More Information
While Symthink is discontinued, the app previously allowed users to list and organize information related to a central question, claim, or idea. Symthink saves these lists as THK files.
Typically, each THK file contains a central idea or hypothesis and supporting ideas, reasoning, and evidence. THK files may also store links to sources from which users gathered ideas, reasoning, or evidence.
NOTE: Users can link THK files together by importing one file's content into another file.
How to open a THK file
Since Symthink is no longer available, you can open a THK file in Microsoft Notepad (Windows), Apple TextEdit (Mac), or any other text editor to view the JSON-formatted text it contains. However, viewing a THK file with a text editor will not appear the same as viewing it with Symthink.
Before being discontinued, you could open a THK file with Symthink (Web) by clicking the folder icon in the app's bottom right corner. Then, you could open the sandwich menu, select Import, and navigate to and open your THK file.
