A QB2016 file is a data file created by the 2016 version of QuickBooks for Mac, a financial management application. More Information
If your computer crashes or files become corrupt you can restore your QB2016 company file. When QuickBooks backs up your data, it creates a .DMG file that includes a copy of your QB2016 file and Attached Documents Library folder. To restore your QB2016 company file from a backup:
- Go to your backed up disk image and double-click the icon in order to mount it.
- Drag the QB2016 file wherever you want it located. Put the Attached Documents Library folder in the same location as the QB2016 file as well.
- Open your company file, select QuickBooks → Preferences and choose Attachments.
NOTE: Previous versions of QuickBooks for Mac use the extensions .QB2015, .QB2014, .QB2013, etc. These files are known as legacy files in the QuickBooks 2016 release.
