What is a QB2013 file?
File created by QuickBooks for Mac, a financial management software; contains a company's financial data including payroll information, employee data, and customer information; able to generate tax forms, payroll, financial reports, and more.

To upgrade your company file to QB2013 from a previous version of QuickBooks for Mac:
- Make a copy of your company file using the previous version of QuickBooks for Mac. Select File → Back Up. Exit out of any previous versions of QuickBooks that are running.
- Open QuickBooks 2013 for Mac. Select File → Open Company, choose your file then select Open. QuickBooks 2013 will upgrade your file and add a QB2013 extension. QuickBooks will also save your original file and rename it to show it as an older file.
NOTE: Previous versions of QuickBooks for Mac use the extensions .QB2012, .QB2011, .QB2010, etc. although these are called legacy in the QuickBooks 2013 release.
