Example applications that use PRM files include IBM ILOG CPLEX Optimization Studio, GSAS (General Structure Analysis System), Gurobi Optimizer, CodeWarrior, P300 Classifier GUI, and the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) operating system installer.

PRM files saved in plain text format can be opened by text editors, such as Microsoft Notepad, Microsoft WordPad, Apple TextEdit, and gedit.
