What is an HDP file?
An HDP file is a raster image saved in the HD Photo (HDP) format developed by Microsoft. It stores image data compressed with lossless or lossy compression, and supports a wide range of color depths and transparency. The HDP format, also known as JPEG XR (.JXR), was designed to store high-resolution photographic images more efficiently than traditional .JPEG files.
More Information
The format's advanced compression method allows images to retain more detail at smaller file sizes than traditional JPEG compression, especially for high-resolution or high–bit–depth images. HDP also supports features such as progressive decoding and improved handling of image edits, which help reduce quality loss during repeated saves. Despite its technical advantages, HDP is less commonly used today than other image formats, such as JPEG or PNG.
How to open an HDP file
You can open HDP files with various Windows image viewers that support JPEG XR, such as Microsoft Photos. Some professional image-editing applications and third-party viewers also support the format, including Adobe Photoshop with the HD Photo plugin.

Audio clip created by MAGIX audio and video editing software, such as Movie Edit Pro (MEP) and Samplitude Music Studio; describes a sound object that has been imported or captured directly in the software; allows destructive edits to the audio data without affecting the original audio; generated automatically when dragging an audio file onto the movie timeline, or when importing a video file that includes audio data.
More Information
NOTE: HDP files are used internally by Movie Edit Pro when the user edits movies. If they are manually deleted, they will be recreated the next time the audio object is accessed in MEP.
