What is a GWS file?
Configuration file that stores user settings, legends, warehouse connections, and other preferences for GeoMedia; has a default coordinate system assigned to it, which can be changed by opening the GeoWorkspace Coordinate System dialog box.
To change the GeoWorkspace Coordinate System, select "View→GeoWorkspace Coordinate System" and choose another workspace.

Project file created by Geosoft software products such as Oasis montaj 5 and earlier; contains geospatial data imported into the project; used for organizing geospatial data such as maps, images, and GIS databases.
NOTE: Oasis montaj 6 and later use the .GPF extension. Older GWS files can still be imported into the newer versions of the software.
