A VPC6 file is a virtual machine package created by Microsoft Virtual PC 6, a discontinued virtualization program for Mac OS X that allowed users to run Windows operating systems on PowerPC-based Macs. Virtual PC 6 used VPC6 files to organize all components of a virtual machine into a single package for easier management and transfer. Each package contained the necessary resources for booting Windows and running Windows applications alongside Mac software.

You can open VPC6 files with Parallels Desktop for Mac and VMware Fusion. To open a VPC6 file with either program, select File → Open. Microsoft Virtual PC 6 also supports VPC6 files, but the software is discontinued.
