Software Overview
Project64 is a Nintendo 64 (N64) emulator for the Windows platform. The program was initially released in 2001 and is open source. Also, it does not require a BIOS like many other emulators.
The emulator allows you to play N64 ROMs such as .Z64, .ROM, or .N64. You can save game progress in .PJ files and map the buttons of third-party controllers to standard N64 controls with the .JSF file. Project64 also enables alteration of the gameplay's aspect ratio and supports multiplayer gameplay.
The emulator is used by N64 gamers that want to replay classics, such as Mario Kart 64 and GoldenEye 007, on their computer. It allows users to save their gameplay and customize computer joysticks to function the same as original N64 controllers. Project64 is one of the most popular emulators and the most popular N64 emulator available.
