E-merge WinAce is an archiving and encryption utility available for Windows. While WinAce is now discontinued, the last version of the program is still available for download online.

Primarily, WinAce allows you to package one or more files within compressed archives, for easier storage and sharing. By default, WinAce saves archives in its proprietary .ACE archive format. However, you can also save archives in more common formats, such as .ZIP, .CAB, .GZ, and .RAR.

You can also use WinAce to extract files from supported archives and encrypt individual files. WinAce saves encrypted files as .XEF files.

Because WinAce is discontinued, and because other actively-developed archiving utilities are more robust, you should avoid WinAce if possible. If you need to open an ACE archive, you can do so with PeaZip or The Unarchiver. However, if you need to decrypt an XEF file, WinAce is your only option.
