A YBK file is a Yearbook Update file that has been integrated with Microsoft Encarta. It contains new or updated content added to the default version of Encarta. Encarta creates a YBK file after a user installs an .EYB content update package; the YBK file replaces the EYB file.
추가 정보
Microsoft Encarta was a primarily CD- and DVD-based digital encyclopedia available for Windows. Prior to Encarta 2000, users could add new content to Encarta by downloading and installing monthly updates that Microsoft made available online. These updates were referred to as Yearbook Updates.
After downloading an EYB update file, via Encarta's Yearbook Builder or The Microsoft Network (MSN), users used Yearbook Builder to install that update. As part of this process, Yearbook Builder deleted the EYB file and replaced it with a YBK file. YBK files store the same information as EYB files, saved in a different format optimized for integration with Encarta. For this reason, YBK files are often referred to as "integrated Yearbook" files.
Encarta stores YBK files in the following directory:
~/Program Files/Microsoft Reference/Encarta Encyclopedia ##/Update##
