Che cos'è un file OXT?
An OXT file is a plug-in that adds a feature to an Apache OpenOffice or LibreOffice application, such as Writer, Calc, or Impress. Examples of the features OXT files contain are advanced spell checking, additional document templates, and the ability to edit images in-app. You can install OXT files using OpenOffice and LibreOffice's Extension Manager.

Apache OpenOffice and LibreOffice are free Micrsoft Office alternatives. Both suites contain:
- Writer: An alternative to Microsoft Word
- Calc: An alternative to Microsoft Excel
- Impress: An alternative to Microsoft PowerPoint
- Draw: A vector graphics editor
- Math: A mathematical equation creator
- Base: A database management application
You can use an OXT file to add an additional feature to one or more of these OpenOffice/LibreOffice applications. Some OXT files are developed for use with a single application, while others are meant to be used with all OpenOffice/LibreOffice applications.

Come aprire un file OXT
If you have Apache OpenOffice 2.2 or later, you can install an OXT file by double-clicking it. Otherwise, to install an OXT file:
- Open OpenOffice or LibreOffice.
- Select Tools → Extension Manager.
- Select Add.
- When the Add Extension(s) window appears, navigate to and open your OXT file.
You can also use the Extension Manager to check for extension updates, using the Check for Updates button.
NOTA: Some OXT files come packaged in .ZIP archives. If your OXT file is packaged in a ZIP archive, select the archive in step four above. OpenOffice will automatically extract and import the OXT file your archive contains.
