A TMS file is a script used by Telemate, a DOS-based communications program popular in the 1980s and 1990s. Telemate primarily used these scripts to simplify repetitive tasks when connecting to bulletin board systems (BBS) or other dial-up services over a modem.

In the 1980s and 90s, Telemate users created and edited TMS scripts to automate specific connections, enter usernames and passwords, or execute sequences of commands automatically. REMARQUE: The TMS format is now considered legacy, as Telemate and dial-up BBS systems are largely obsolete.
