What is a ZZS file?
A ZZS file is a search query created for use with NASPA Zyzzyva, a word study program. It contains one or more search conditions written in XML format. Zyzzyva users can use ZZS files to conduct word searches or create word quizzes.
More Information
Scrabble players (and other wordsmiths) use Zyzzyva to look up, study, and quiz themselves on words. In Zyzzyva's Search mode, users can create and execute word searches that include a variety of conditions. For example, a user can create a search that returns only words that have between two and six anagrams.
If a user plans to review to a search's results regularly, or they want to use the search to create a Zyzzyva quiz (.ZZQ file), they can save that search as a ZZS file (by selecting Save Search... in the Search window). Each ZZS file contains all that search's conditions, written in a plain text, XML format.
How to open a ZZS file
You can open a ZZS file in NASPA Zyzzyva (multiplatform), to run the search it contains. To do so:
- Select File → Search from Zyzzyva's menu bar.
- Select Load Search....
- Navigate to and open your ZZS file.
You can also open a ZZS file in Microsoft Notepad (Windows), Apple TextEdit (Mac), or any other text editor, to view the XML data it contains.
