What is a ZZQ file?
A ZZQ file is a word quiz created by NASPA Zyzzyva, a word study program. It contains XML-format information used to load quiz questions in Zyzzyva's Quiz feature. ZZQ files are comprised of a question source and one or more conditions that create the quiz, as well as other data.
More Information
Those who play word games, like Scrabble, use Zyzzyva to look up, study, and quiz themselves on words. In Zyzzyva's Quiz mode, wordsmiths can create and take quizzes in which they must recall words that match specific criteria. For example, a user can create a quiz in which they must recall all six letter words that include the letters Z and X.
If a user plans to take a quiz multiple times, they can save that quiz as a ZZQ file. To do so, the user selects Save Quiz from either the New Quiz or Quiz screen. They can then load and take the quiz in Zyzzyva at any time. They can also share the quiz with other Zyzzyva users.
How to open a ZZQ file
You can open a ZZQ file in NASPA Zyzzyva (multiplatform). To do so:
- Select File → Quiz... from the program's menu bar.
- In the New Quiz window, select Load Quiz....
- Navigate to and open your ZZQ file.
You can also open a ZZQ file in Microsoft Notepad (Windows), Apple TextEdit (Mac), or any other text editor to view the XML data it contains.
