A TGC file may also be a Nintendo GameCube game file supported by various emulators, most prominently the Dolphin emulator. It is a compressed game image in the standard GameCube disc image format, with a smaller footprint for faster access during emulation. The TGC format is not an official Nintendo format and was never used on retail GameCube hardware.
More Information
TGC files are most closely associated with the Dolphin emulator, which introduced the file type to reduce file size and improve storage efficiency. TGC files include game code, assets, and filesystem data needed to run a GameCube title without requiring the original physical disc.
Emulation enthusiasts, preservationists, and developers who run GameCube games on PCs or other supported platforms may encounter the format. Because it is emulator-specific, the format is far less common than uncompressed GameCube images, such as .ISO or .GCM.
How to open a TGC file
You can open TGC files with the Dolphin emulator. Some tools can convert TGC files to standard GameCube disc images if broader compatibility is needed.
