What is an SVP file?
An SVP file is a Dreamtronics Synthesizer V project. It contains JSON-formatted text used to load a voice synthesizer project in Synthesizer V. When opened in Synthesizer V, SVP files appear as a series of musical notes, often arranged among multiple audio tracks.
More Information
Synthesizer V allows users to create, edit, and play back synthesized singing vocals. Users can then export the vocals they've created as .UST or .MID files. Synthesizer V projects, which are saved as SVP files, often contain many different vocal tracks, including primary vocals, backing vocals, and effects applied to those vocals.
While SVP files appear as vocal tracks in Synthesizer V, they are actually plain text JSON files. When you open an SVP file in Synthesizer V, the program converts the text the file contains into the graphical elements that appear in Synthesizer V.
How to open an SVP file
You can open an SVP file in Synthesizer V (cross-platform). To do so, select File → Open... from Synthesizer V's menu bar. Then, navigate to and open your SVP file.
If you want to view the JSON text your SVP file contains, you can open it in any text editor, such as Microsoft Notepad (Windows) or Apple TextEdit (Mac).

An SVP file may also be a project created by INSIGHT Subsurface Viewer, a geological program used to visualize and analyze subsurface seismic data in 3D. It contains a subsurface geological model, which may include sections, maps, geological unit data, borehole logs, layers, VOXEL models, faults, and rock properties.
More Information
You can open and create SVP files in Windows using Subsurface Viewer. You can also open SVP files using Subsurface Viewer Reader, which is available for Windows and macOS.
To open SVP files in Subsurface Viewer and Subsurface Viewer Reader, simply select File → Open project and navigate to the SVP file.
NOTE: INSIGHT Subsurface Viewer software has been discontinued.
