What is an SLX file?
Simulation model created with Simulink, a block diagram environment for multidomain simulation; stores a list of elements and associated values in a compressed XML format; uses Unicode UTF-8 text encoding by default.

The SLX format was introduced in Simulink 2012 and is designed to replace the previous .MDL format. Because SLX are compressed, they typically have a smaller file size than similar MDL files. Additionally, they support a wider range of characters.
