What is an RLE file?
4 or 8-bit RLE-encoded bitmap image; basically a .DIB file that uses RLE (Run-length encoding) compression; common image format used in early versions of Windows and CompuServe software.
The RLE image format is the native format used by the Utah Raster Toolkit, a collection of programs and C routines for managing raster images.
