.PIGS File Extension

Indigo Renderer and Indigo RT are 3D apps that allow artists to create photorealistic images. However, Indigo RT offers fewer features and is less expensive than Indigo Renderer.

Various Glare Technologies apps can create PIGS files, including the standalone version of Indigo Renderer and the plugin version. The Indigo Renderer plugin is available for several 3D modeling products, including 3ds Max, Blender, Cinema 4D, and Maya.

How to create a PIGS file with Indigo Renderer

You can create a PIGS file with Indigo Renderer when saving a scene you want to share or store. To create a PIGS file with Indigo Renderer, open an IGS file, select File → Save Scene As, then select "Packed Indigo Scene" from the file type dropdown menu.

You can open a PIGS file with Glare Technologies Indigo Renderer (multiplatform) and Indigo RT (multiplatform). For example, to open the file with Indigo Renderer, select File → Open.

Since PIGS files are .ZIP files with a different extension, you can change the .pigs file extension to .zip, then extract the IGS file stored in the archive with a Zip compression utility, such as File Explorer (Windows) or Apple Archive Utility (macOS). This is helpful for accessing the IGS file if you do not have Indigo Renderer or Indigo RT.
