A P7Z file is an email message compressed in the S/MIME (Secure/Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) standard. It contains one or more parts of a message compressed with zlib compression.

Most email applications, such as Microsoft Outlook, Apple Mail, and Mozilla Thunderbird, support compressed S/MIME messages. However, if an email program does not handle compressed data, a P7Z file may appear as an attachment (smime.p7z) to the email message.
