An MXS file may also be a color mixer pad created by Corel Painter, a digital painting application. It contains the paint colors that a user mixes on the Mixer Pad with the brush. MXS files are used by digital artists to remember specific color mixes and revert to a previous Mixer Pad state.

More Information

The Mixer is a Corel Painter feature that allows users to blend colors and create paint swatches. As a user creates a set of blended colors or swatches, they can save their Mixer Pad as an MXS file, to quickly access that Mixer Pad again in the future.

How do I save a Corel Painter Mixer Pad?

To save a Mixer Pad as an MXS file, access Corel Painter's Mixer panel (typically docked in the program's Palette Drawer) and select the sandwich menu icon. Then, choose Save Mixer Pad....

NOTE: MXS files differ from Mixer Swatches (.MWS) files, which store the preset colors tiled at the top of the Mixer window.

How to open an MXS file

To open an MXS file as a Mixer Pad in Corel Painter:

  1. Access the program's Mixer panel.
  2. Select the sandwich menu icon.
