What is an EZD file?
An EZD file is a measurement file created by Nanosurf easyScan control software. It contains measurements recorded using an easyScan atomic force microscope (AFM) or scanning tunneling microscope (STM). EZD files can also be opened by Nanosurf Naio control software.
More Information
Nanosurf easyScan is a system that allows physicists to image a material, make nanometer-scale measurements, and record other topographic and spectrographic data. An easyScan system consists of an AFM or STM and accompanying easyScan control software. Physicists create EZD files by saving measurements within easyScan control software.
How to open an EZD file
You can open an EZD file in Nanosurf easyScan 2 control software by selecting File → Open from the program's menu bar. If you no longer have access to easyScan 2 (because the software is in the process of being discontinued), you can open your EZD file in Nanosurf NaioAFM or NaioSTM control software.

An EZD file may also be a design created by EzCad2, a laser engraver control software. It contains images and/or text that is meant to be laser-engraved on metal or another type of surface. It may also contain markings a laser engraver uses to engrave the design.
More Information
EzCad2 is a Chinese laser engraver control software that allows you to create designs and, using a connected laser engraving machine, engrave those designs on aluminum, steel, brass, copper, and other surfaces. Specifically, you can use EzCad2 to control machines that use LMC series laser controllers.
Designs created in EzCad2 are saved as EZD files. Each EZD design may be comprised of vector drawings, created using EzCad2's drawing tools, text, placed using EzCad 2's text tool, or imported raster or vector images. EZD files also typically contain markings, which connected laser engravers use to correctly read, orient, and engrave the design the file contains.
NOTE: Periodically, EzCad2 autosaves designs as files named AutoSave.ezd.
How to open an EZD file
You can open an EZD file in EzCad2 (Windows). To do so, select File → Open.... Then, navigate to and open your EZD file.
