What is an EBD file?

An example EBD file is Windows.ebd, which is used to store indexing information for Windows searches in Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012. Another example EBD file is systemsf.ebd, which is a system file located in the C:\Windows\System32\ directory.

NOTE: EBD also stands for Emergency Boot Disk. However, files that use the *.ebd file extension are not necessarily related to emergency boot procedures.
