What is a CKD file?
A CKD file is a game asset used by a video game developed using the UbiArt Framework, a 2.5D game engine developed by Ubisoft Montpellier. It contains a character skeleton (.SKL file), image (such as a .JPG file), or other game asset that has been compiled for use in a game. CKD files have been used in games such as Rayman Adventures, Child of Light, and the Just Dance series.
More Information
A variety of Ubisoft video games have been developed using the UbiArt Framework. Before certain assets are included in UbiArt Framework games, they are compiled into CKD files. Typically, CKD files retain the extension of the file they were created from. For example, an .M3D file that has been compiled into a CKD file would use the .m3d.ckd extension.
Most gamers will never encounter a CKD file, but those who are interested in extracting and editing the assets found in an UbiArt Framework game may encounter CKD files while browsing a game's files or researching the game's assets online.
