What is a CAK file?
A CAK file is a video used in a Sega CD-ROM video game. It contains a movie played within the game. CAK files are one of many types of files saved in the Sega FILM file format.
More Information
The Sega CD and Sega Saturn video game consoles both played games stored on CD-ROMs. These games used video files saved using Sega's proprietary FILM video format. FILM files were saved with a variety of extensions, including .FILM_CPK, .cpk, .film, and .cak.
CAK files were used in Burning Rangers, Dark Seed II, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Lunar 2: Eternal Blue, and Phantasm, among other Sega Saturn games.
How to open a CAK file
Because CAK files are so uncommon, most popular media players cannot play them. However, you can play CAK files using VLC media player, and you can convert CAK files to a more usable video format using FFmpeg.

A CAK file may also be a compressed archive used by WWE 2K20 or a later game in the WWE 2K series. It contains assets used in the game. For example, a CAK file may contain 3D models, textures, audio, and/or animations.
More Information
WWE 2K is a series of pro wrestling video games. Starting with WWE 2K20, developer Visual Concepts took over the development of the series.
Versions of WWE 2K developed by Visual Concepts store many of their assets in CAK files. While CAK files are not meant to be opened by players, WWE 2K modders have created tools that allow them to extract data from and add data to CAK files.
NOTE: Previous versions of WWE 2K, developed by Yuke's, store assets in .PAC files.
How to open a CAK file
You can use CakeTools (Windows) to view, extract, and add to the game data a CAK file contains.
