Co je soubor WEBP?

A WEBP file is an image saved in the WebP raster image format developed by Google for displaying images on the web. Google developed WebP using technology it acquired from On2 Technologies in 2009 and introduced it in 2010 as an open image format. The format has since gained support for additional features, including animation, transparency, and metadata.

WebP files use a container based on the Resource Interchange File Format (RIFF), a format developed by Microsoft and IBM. WebP's lossy compression uses technology from the VP8 video codec, while its lossless compression uses a separate algorithm designed specifically for WebP images.
