A XEX file is a video game or other application developed for the Microsoft Xbox 360 game console. It is designed to run on an Xbox 360 and is not meant to be opened on a PC.

Unlike the original Xbox, there is currently no emulator that consistently opens Xbox 360 games. The xenia emulator (linked below) allows gamers to play a small number of Xbox 360 games on their PC, but still cannot emulate most games.
注: Original Xbox games used the .XBE extension.

XEX files are meant to be opened and run on an Xbox 360. To run a XEX file on your Xbox 360, place the file in your 360's HDD:\Games directory or wherever you store games.
Gamers who wish to decompress, decrypt, and examine their XEX files' binary data can use XexTool, a Windows command-line utility, to do so. Decompressing and decrypting a XEX file will allow you to view and edit the file's data in a hex editor. Editing a XEX file's data may cause the file to no longer function, so most gamers should not edit their XEX files.
