A COMPILED file is a game resource file used by PopCap Games Plants vs. Zombies (PvZ), a game where you defend your home against invading zombies. It contains information that defines the placement of body parts and character movements and is commonly hacked by game modders in order to alter the characters and their movements.

COMPILED files are compressed with zlib compression and stored in the "Compiled" folder, which is located in the game's main.pak archive. The .PAK archive must be extracted in order to view and modify the COMPILED files. The "compiled" extension is appended on to files, such as example.reanim.compiled.

COMPILED files are not meant to be opened. Instead, they are referenced by Plants vs. Zombies. If you do attempt to modify the COMPILED file, you may cause the game to not function correctly.
