Software Overview

XMind is a mind mapping tool used to organize ideas and information. It is available as a free download but can also be purchased as XMind Pro, which gives you more capabilities.

XMind allows you to brainstorm ideas, manage meetings, and take notes. Its Idea Factory enables you to record and collect your ideas while providing a timer to help you control the brainstorming session. You can visualize your ideas in various manners whether it be through mind map, matrix, timeline, tree chart, and fishbone chart form. XMind allows you to customize the appearance of your mind maps including themes and fonts. You can also convert mind maps to Gantt charts to show the start date, end date, and progress of every task.

You can convert your mind maps to multiple formats such as JPEG, PNG, PowerPoint, Excel, HTML, CSV, PDF, SVG, and plain text. XMind allows you to generate a slideshow and store multiple presentations in one map. The program also provides the View Navigator tool to order slides, select specific map parts to present, and preview your presentation.

XMind is one of the most popular mind-mapping tools and is used by casual and business users to brainstorm and organize their ideas. However, the application is part of a crowded field with ample competition in CS Odessa's ConceptDraw MINDMAP and ThinkBuzan's iMindMap, which may be better choices for your needs.
