VisualBoyAdvance and its variants are free emulators that can be used to play Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy games on a PC. While development on the main VisualBoyAdvance project was discontinued in 2005, a number of additional versions have picked up where VisualBoyAdvance left off. VisualBoyAdvance-M (linked from the More Info button above) is the most actively developed version.
In addition to faithfully emulating the Game Boy Advance, VisualBoyAdvance provides other quality-of-life features that improve players' gaming experience. Most notably, it allows players to save games at any time, even when saving wouldn't be allowed on a Game Boy. VisualBoyAdvance also allows players to pause games, speed up gameplay, play in fullscreen mode, play using a joystick, record gameplay, and take screenshots.
To use VisualBoyAdvance, players must create or locate Game Boy game ROMs. Typically, these ROMs are saved as .GBA, .GBC, and .GB files. Note that it is illegal to share ROMs of copyrighted games or download ROMs of games you do not own.
Gamers looking to re-experience (or discover) classic Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy games will love VisualBoyAdvance. The emulator allows gamers to easily fire up old Game Boy games, while providing extra features that make playing on a PC a great experience.
